How does ducted air central heating work?

Brivis LogoDucted air central heating systems work quite differently to radiator and underfloor systems but the end result is still a cozy, warm, even-temperature home.

The system comprises a heating unit that draws warm air via a network of ducts into the rooms of your home through a series of discrete outlets, which are available in a range of finishes to match your decor.

Ducted air systems can be installed in both new and existing homes. The outlets & ducts are strategically placed throughout your home, either in the floor or ceiling, depending on where the best available space is found.

The advantages of ducted air systems include the discrete outlets, the rapid speed at which they heat the home, and the super-efficient central heating units.

At Gas Serve we specialise in Brivis brand ducted air systems.

Where does the heat come from?

The Brivis Ducted Gas Heating system draws air from inside your home through the heater where it is warmed. The ducts which connect the outlets to the heating unit are neatly tucked away out of sight. A wall controller lets you set up your temperature for the whole home or even down to a single room.

How does it get to all the rooms in the house?

A fan pushes the heat into the rooms of your home via the outlets and duct network, in the form of a steady, gentle supply of warm air. Once your home reaches your desired temperature the heater unit switches off. The fan then comes to a halt slowly, ensuring that all the remaining heat inside the unit is used.

How do I control the temperature?

The Brivis controller monitors the air temperature on a continual basis and controls the Brivis Ducted Gas Heating system to ensure a consistently warm temperature throughout the home. On our higher efficiency models, as the home heats up, the heater modulates the gas so only a small amount of energy is used to keep the space at your desired comfort level.

How efficient are the systems?

Brivis Ducted Gas Heaters are rated from 3 to the maximum 6 stars depending on model.

The star rating on your Ducted Gas Heater helps you compare how much gas your heater is actually using. It’s an indicative guide that outlines the running cost of the heater in terms of annual energy usage.

The higher the star rating, the more energy efficient the heater is – meaning bigger annual savings on your running costs. On average, an increase of one star means energy usage savings of approximately 10 percent.
